Trevor David Houchen dreamed up the idea for NAGOYA SPRINGFEST because he says, ¡ÈI wanted to bring an international party to Nagoya¡Çs beautiful Central Park, where everyone can enjoy a trip around the world in just two days.¡É Trevor David himself was born in New York City.
Trevor graduated from the prestigious UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA with a BACHELOR¡¡OF¡¡SCIENCE degree in April 1994 after studying BROADCAST COMMUNICATION.
He moved to Nagoya in October 2003 and began working as an ENGLISH¡¡INSTRUCTOR with various companies.
Trevor has a background in event creation and promotion, as well as FILM/TV/VIDEO production, and music production. While in New York City, he worked as a producer at several well-known radio stations, as well as music video and film production. Trevor also worked as a professional actor in Hollywood, California. He appeared in several films, television shows, music videos, as well as magazines and corporate videos.
Trevor is also an accomplished and published professional writer who has written numerous articles for newspapers, magazines, radio and TV. David says his primary focus is MUSIC, which is why he first originated the idea for SPRINGFEST. He has an album which is being released this year by Tokyo-based independent label ZENEXT MUSICWORKS. He is also the voice of ZIP FM's international radio program "GLOBAL VOICE", which is heard monthly, and he is a regular contributor to ¡ÈJapanzine¡É, Japan¡Çs only national magazine for English speakers.
Trevor also finds time to DJ on Thursday nights at Sakae's premier hip hop club, "Cream Bar" under the name "DJ maddlove". Mr.David is still teaching English professionally in Nagoya, all ages and all levels. He says he is proud to be part of bringing SPRINGFEST'07 to Nagoya, and hopes to establish Springfest as an annual event.
First coming to Japan with the U.S. Navy at the tender age of 18 in May of 1978, Tip has been living and working in the land of ¡ÆHarmony¡Ç ever since. During the past 28 plus years, he has worn many hats including that of English Teacher, Automotive Production Planning Engineer, Technical Interpreter, Logistics Coordinator, Restaurant Owner, Radio DJ, and Event Producer. Tip was also the Operations Manager of the United States Pavilion at the World Expo held in Aichi Prefecture in 2005, which had as one of it¡Çs main principles, ¡ÈRespect for the Environment¡É.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, and having lived in different parts of Japan throughout the years, Tip calls Nagoya home. He is currently involved in projects to help maintain and increase the international exposure afforded to Nagoya and Aichi through the Expo.
Spring Fest ¡Ç07, as part of Earth Day Aichi 2007, is a celebration of ¡ÈLife, Music and Art¡É, with emphasis on creating a greater awareness of and for the environment. The concepts and principles of the various Earth Day Celebrations held around the world are very important to Tip. He encourages every single person to remember that there is only ¡ÆOne World¡Ç, but there are many ¡ÆCitizens of the World¡Ç. As fellow citizens of the world, everyone must take an active part in creating the best world we can NOW, so that future generations can look back on our generation and say, ¡ÈThank You¡É.
